The story of Creative Assembly
Loud SEGA The Creative Assembly Ltd. was founded in August 1987. Thus, the studio looks back on almost four Jahrzehnte Spieleentwicklung, which is a real exception in an industry where many studios disappear after a few years. Creative Assembly was founded in August 1987 by Tim Ansell, who also managed the studio himself until it was taken over by SEGA. Where the studio was created at that time is not proven by the information we have, so we leave this point open.
One thing is certain: Creative Assembly has developed over the years from a small British developer to one of the big names in the strategy genre. Today, the headquarters is located in Horsham, Vereinigtes Königreich, between London and Brighton. I find it exciting that a studio of this size is not at home in London, but in the rather quiet Grafschaft West Sussex.
The breakthrough with Total War
The big name has made Creative Assembly with the Total War series. The games combine turn-based campaigns on a large map with huge real-time battles in which Tausende Soldaten meet simultaneously. In 2005, the Communication of SEGA Sammy from March 2005 We found that the Total War titles in North America and Europe had each sold over a Million Mal.

Over the years, Creative Assembly has sent the series through many epochs, of historical wars up to fantasy worlds. The Warhammers have opened Total War to a new audience who would have been able to play a new game. For us, Total War is still the benchmark when it comes to mass battles on the PC.
Creative Assembly and SEGA
In March 2005, SEGA Sammy and SEGA decided that SEGA Europe would acquire all shares in The Creative Assembly Ltd. According to the Communication of SEGA Sammy from March 2005 The studio had 77 employees at the time, the shares held Gründer Tim Ansell and Mike Simpson. Since then, Creative Assembly has been a subsidiary of SEGA.
At that time, SEGA justified the purchase with the strong Marke Total War and the studio’s own engines. Cooperation continues to this day: SEGA releases the games of Creative Assembly worldwide, and in 2022 the studio at Vereinigten Königreich was recognized as one of the "Best Places to Work" as SEGA communicated. As Studio Director SEGA calls there Tim Heaton.
More than Strategy: Alien: Isolation
Creative Assembly is not just Total War. With Alien: Isolation, the studio has made a survival horror, which to this day is considered one of the best games to the alien movie. Instead of mass battles, here is a single alien chasing me through a space station, and that’s what makes the game so oppressive.

Loud SEGA career side Nowadays, Creative Assembly is working alongside the total-war teams and its own survival team. This shows that the studio after Alien: Isolation is still interested in games beyond strategy, even if the exact projects have not yet been announced.
Locations and team
Creative Assembly is loud SEGA career side to the largest Spieleentwicklern Europas. The headquarters in West Sussex is the global home of Total War teams, R&D and administration. In addition, CA Sofia is a second location in Bulgaria, which is working together with the British teams on Total War and the Survival project.
This division explains why Creative Assembly can handle several large projects simultaneously. For me, this is a typical picture of an AAA studio: many specialized teams, a strong technical department and a big publisher behind it.
Creative Assembly: Total War: 40,000
The next big project of Creative Assembly is Total War: Warhammer 40,000. The studio brings the Total War formula to the dark science fiction universe of Warhammer 40,000 for the first time, with tanks, vehicles and range combat instead of swords and cavalry. As a publisher again SEGA on board.

We are curious to see how Creative Assembly transfers the huge battles to modern warfare. We collect all known information about the game in our article Total War: Warhammer 40,000.
