The Sims 4: Free update brings elder content and weight toggles

The Sims 4 received a free update on 27 October 2026. Maxis and Electronic Arts deliver new content for elder Sims, toggles for weight and muscle changes, food tweaks and more than 150 bug fixes.

The update carries version number 1.129.39.1030 on PC, 1.129.39.1230 on Mac and 2.40 on consoles. All additions are free for every player, so you do not need an expansion pack.

New content for elder Sims

The focus is on older Sims. Build mode gains eleven new objects, such as the Needlepoint Nook chair and The Early Bird bed. Create a Sim adds two new hairstyles (Quiff Side Part and Half-Down Waves), four more new clothing items and accessories, and five new recolours.

On top of that there are four Styled Looks, one Styled Room and a household in the Gallery. If you want to build your elders a new home quickly, you have a template right away.

Weight and muscle changes can be switched off

One of the most important additions: you can now decide whether your Sims' weight and muscles change. This works globally in the game options or for individual Sims via a self-interaction. Both toggles work independently of each other. They do not apply to pets.

Food changes

  • "Open" is now first in the fridge menu
  • Prices and calories of dishes were tuned across all packs
  • Sims prefer leftovers
  • Family Recipes support more than 375 additional dishes (with Businesses & Hobbies)
  • Baked goods can be finished with "Quickly Decorate"

Quality-of-life features and more than 150 bug fixes

TVs can now be locked for individual Sims, and the new "Sim Options..." menu bundles settings for a Sim. EA has also improved save backups. On top of that there are more than 150 bug fixes, including more than 25 for Dine Out, and 14 crash fixes.

You can find all the details in the official patch notes. The update downloads automatically the next time you launch the game.
