Heavy Cargo is getting reinforcements in camouflage: with the Heavy Defense DLC, tox² interactive and Aerosoft send you on military transports. Ten new missions revolve around main battle tanks, howitzers and other heavy military vehicles.
After Heavy South, Heavy Defense is the next expansion for the heavy haulage simulation Heavy Cargo – The Truck Simulator. The DLC's Steam page is already online, but there is no specific date or price yet. Steam only says "Upcoming announcement".

Heavy Defense: ten missions with military vehicles
The heart of the DLC is ten new missions in which you move ten different military vehicles as cargo. According to the Steam page, these vehicle types are among them:
- Main battle tank
- Infantry fighting vehicle
- Armoured personnel carrier
- Mine-protected vehicle
- Gun howitzer
- Combat reconnaissance vehicle
For the heaviest loads there is a special tank trailer. According to the developer, the new missions fit into your existing progress, so you do not need to start a new save.

Three new locations and eleven paint jobs
You pick up and deliver the military vehicles at three new locations:
- Barracks
- Military port
- Military training area
On top of that there are eleven new paint jobs for your trucks, including several camouflage patterns. That way the tractor unit also matches the cargo visually.

Free update 1.4.0 for everyone
Together with Heavy Defense comes the free update 1.4.0 for all Heavy Cargo players. According to the announcement on Steam from 1 October 2026, it brings among other things:
- Paintable bumpers, light bars, rims and horns
- An option to switch off the mission time limit
- A graphics overhaul
The option to switch off time limits in particular should please many players, because the time pressure on extra-wide transports was often more annoying than exciting.

Release and price of Heavy Defense
A release date and price for Heavy Defense are still pending. However, you can already add the DLC to your wishlist on Steam. To play, you need the base game Heavy Cargo for PC. You can read how the base game holds up in our Heavy Cargo review.
