For me, Counter-Strike 2 is the most honest shooter there is. All that matters here is skill: aim, game sense and teamwork. I love it and hate it at the same time, and that's exactly what makes it so compelling.

Rating and verdict
Counter-Strike 2 carries the CS:GO legacy forward on the Source 2 engine. Smoke grenades react dynamically, the graphics are more modern, and the precise gunplay is as good as ever. As a free-to-play title, getting started costs nothing.
Cheaters are a big problem, though, the community is often toxic, and many modes were missing at launch. If you stick with it, you'll find the most competitive shooter there is.

Terrorists vs. Counter-Terrorists
Two teams of five players face off. The Terrorists plant a bomb, and the Counter-Terrorists have to stop them or defuse it.
The concept has been the same for over 20 years and still works perfectly.
Counter-Strike 2 and what's new
The Source 2 engine brings modern graphics and sub-tick servers. Smoke grenades spread dynamically and can be broken up by gunfire.
Maps like Dust 2, Mirage and Inferno have been reworked and look better than ever.
Cheaters and community
Without Prime status and good anti-cheat, you'll often run into cheaters.
The community can be extremely toxic. With friends, though, the game is a lot more fun.
Tech and system requirements
Counter-Strike 2 runs smoothly on the Source 2 engine at very high frame rates. The anti-cheat remains the biggest weak spot.
