REKA by Emberstorm Entertainment and Fireshine Games left Early Access on October 26, 2026 and has been released in version 1.0. In this cozy adventure you become an apprentice to Baba Yaga as the young witch Reka and build a house that walks through the world on giant chicken legs. I built, brewed and cast spells and had a really relaxing time.

Rating and verdict
REKA won me over with its mood right away. The walking chicken-legged house that I expand floor by floor is a wonderful idea, and the Slavic folklore with Baba Yaga, rituals and villagers gives the game its own touch. Add to that a soundtrack that I would gladly listen to outside the game.
In the long run, however, weaknesses show. Many tasks are simple fetch quests, the maps look alike, and the building controls are sometimes fiddly. Minor bugs still exist in version 1.0. Steam players are nevertheless enthusiastic, 87 percent of recent reviews are positive. If you are looking for a cozy game to unwind, you are in the right place.

At PlayInsider we rate every game individually and always against the expectations of its genre. We judge the story of an action game or adventure by its narrative quality. In a simulation or management game, on the other hand, what counts is what the genre typically offers. This keeps our ratings fair and comparable within a genre.
Story: Apprenticed to Baba Yaga
You play Reka, a young girl who ran away from home and becomes an apprentice to the infamous witch Baba Yaga. Instead of a fixed home, you get a hut on chicken legs that you use to roam the land, help villagers and develop your powers.
The story is charming and full of references to Slavic fairy tales, but remains more of a frame than a gripping drama.

REKA review: Gameplay
The focus is on house building. You place walls, floors, roofs and furniture, add new floors to the hut and decorate it as you like. You also gather herbs, brew potions, perform rituals and complete tasks for the villagers.
The tasks in particular often boil down to similar fetch quests, and the maps differ little. The building controls are powerful but not always precise. All in all, you will be busy for 15 to 30 hours.

Graphics and sound
The stylized world looks beautiful. Autumn forests, foggy landscapes and atmospheric nights are reminiscent of old fairy tale books. The folk soundtrack is the secret highlight and fits the cozy atmosphere perfectly.

Tech and system requirements
With version 1.0, REKA runs largely stable. Minor bugs, clipping while building and occasional stutters still exist. You can find the exact system requirements in the table below this text.
What players say on Steam
On Steam, 87 percent of the 295 recent reviews are positive (as of October 31, 2026). Players praise the house building, the folklore setting and the music. Criticism focuses on repetitive tasks, similar maps, bugs and the building controls.
Who is REKA for?
If you like cozy games, enjoy building and decorating and love fairy tales, you get a lovingly made adventure for 19.99 euros. If you expect a lot of variety or an exciting story, you will have less fun in the long run.
