Cyberpunk 2077 gets mod support on consoles for the first time: with the Edgerunners 2 Update (2.5) from October 22, 2026, you can now install mods on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S too, straight from the game’s main menu. CD PROJEKT RED is relying on mod.io for this.

Cyberpunk 2077 mod support: What’s new?
According to the official patch notes , Update 2.5 introduces so-called Cross-Platform Mod Support. It’s based on mod.io and, according to CD PROJEKT RED, is a first step toward cross-platform modding. A new in-game menu lets you browse and install a selection of community mods without copying files by hand. More mods are set to be added gradually.

Which consoles and from when?
The feature is available on PC, Mac, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 5 Pro, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2. Update 2.5 has been available for PC, Mac, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S since October 22, 2026. According to CD PROJEKT RED, the update will follow a bit later on Nintendo Switch 2 and in the Mac App Store. PS4 and Xbox One aren’t mentioned in the official information. The update is free for all owners of the base game; you don’t need Phantom Liberty. How to install mods on PS5 and Xbox
According to CD PROJEKT RED’s official support article , you open the Mods option in the main menu, sign in with your CD PROJEKT RED account and link it to mod.io. Then subscribe to a mod, restart the game and you’re done. Under Installed, you can see whether the mod is active. Your subscriptions are synced across platforms via your CD PROJEKT RED account.

The limitations on consoles
There are a few catches. On consoles, trophies and achievements are disabled for modded save games, which you can recognize by a mod.io icon. On PS5 and Xbox, only mods marked „Available on consoles“ appear, not the entire PC selection. If you use cross-progression, you need the same mods on both platforms, otherwise the save may not load correctly. Other mod sites remain usable on PC, but according to the mod.io FAQ , mod.io is required for consoles.
Our impression
I think this is a really strong move. Mods in Cyberpunk 2077 used to be almost exclusively a PC thing; now console players get to enjoy them too. It’s understandable that the selection is curated and trophies are disabled. It’ll be exciting to see how quickly the list of console-compatible mods grows.
