Hideo Kojima’s next game has a new partner: PHYSINT is no longer coming from PlayStation but from Xbox. The lead role has also been cast. I sum up what’s officially confirmed and what’s still open.

PHYSINT moves to Xbox
When PHYSINT was announced in January 2024, it was still together with PlayStation. In summer 2026, Sony pulled out of the project. On September 9, 2026, Xbox and Kojima Productions then officially confirmed: Xbox is publishing PHYSINT. The partnership also covers the already known OD as well as film and TV projects.
Honestly, a year ago I wouldn’t have expected a Kojima game to suddenly land at Xbox after Death Stranding. For Kojima Productions , though, the switch mainly means that PHYSINT will continue to be funded.

Bill Skarsgård plays the lead
At the Xbox show for Tokyo Game Show on September 17, 2026, Kojima then confirmed the lead role: Bill Skarsgård, known as Pennywise from It, plays the hero. According to Kojima Productions , Charlee Fraser, Don Lee and Minami Hamabe are also on board. According to Xbox, Kojima photographed the new poster featuring Skarsgård and Fraser himself.
The official video
In the partnership video, Hideo Kojima introduces himself next to a Ludens figure. There’s no gameplay to see yet.
What’s still open
There’s no release date, not even a rough window. Exactly which platforms it’s coming to is also not officially confirmed; the only certainty is Xbox as publisher. Kojima himself describes PHYSINT as an action espionage game, but he hasn’t shown any gameplay yet. As soon as there’s new info, I’ll add it to the game page.
