1000xRESIST isn't a game you play on the side. The narrative adventure takes you to a distant future where only clones of a single woman, the ALLMOTHER, are left alive. It was developed by Vancouver-based Sunset Visitor and published by Fellow Traveller. 1000xRESIST launched on May 9, 2024.
We embarked on the journey through the ALLMOTHER's memories and explain why the game moves so many people. On Steam, around 96 percent of reviews are positive.

1000xRESIST: How the narrative adventure plays
Gameplay-wise, 1000xRESIST is fairly modest. You explore locations from a third-person perspective, talk to characters and use a special ability to travel into the ALLMOTHER's memories. There, you observe scenes from her life and follow leads to unravel the story.

There are hardly any real puzzles or fights. The game thrives on its direction, shifts in perspective and moments where the game world and narrative merge. If you're expecting action, this isn't for you, but if you love good stories, you get a whole lot here.
Story and themes
You play Watcher, a clone living in the Orchard, the last refuge of the clones. The ALLMOTHER is the sole survivor of a plague that wiped out humanity and is worshipped by her clones. When Watcher begins traveling through her memories, she uncovers truths that call everything into question.

The game explores themes like pandemics, migration, the Hong Kong protests and the relationship between parents and children. The writing is bold and often very personal. Some sections are slow and dialogue-heavy, but that very stillness is part of the impact. A playthrough takes about ten to twelve hours.
Graphics, sound and tech
The graphics go for an artistic low-poly style with strong colors, unusual camera angles and surreal images. The full English voice acting is outstanding, and the soundtrack skillfully supports the mood.
Technically, the game is undemanding. You'll find the minimum requirements in the table below this article. On Steam Deck, 1000xRESIST is rated Playable, and smaller text can be hard to read there.
