Rust Halloween Event 2026: Rifts, monster pets and Candy Hunt

The Rust Halloween Event 2026 is live: since October 22, 2026, mysterious Rifts have been opening on the servers, you can build your own monsters and hunt for sweets in the Candy Hunt. Facepunch has also released a few new skins.

Rust Halloween Event 2026: Candy Hunt and monsters

According to Facepunch’s official devblog , the Candy Hunt starts roughly every two in-game days. You have three minutes to collect as many sweets as possible. The top three get special loot bags, with contents ranging from scrap to the M249. Collected sweets can also be upgraded. The event runs until November 5.

My personal highlight: at the Frankenstein table, you build your own pet monster from the body parts of scarecrows and mummies. With a head, torso and legs, it comes to life, follows you and defends you. You control it with the P key.

The Rifts are opening

Cultists or a botched Cobalt experiment called R.U.I.N.? Nobody knows for sure. What’s certain: portals are opening at random locations. Server operators can adjust the number via the console variable halloweendungeon.population.

New Halloween skins

The Limited Store has three wallpapers (Cultist Tile, Manor Ceiling, Derelict Wood), the Skull Wall Lamp and an inflatable alien costume. The Spooky Decor Bundle combines the wallpapers and the lamp with a Halloween wreath and a string of lights. Dracula’s mask and cape as well as the wooden stake are also back.

What’s still open

  • Facepunch hasn’t said whether the Rift content will stay in the game after November 5.

My verdict

For me, this is one of the better Halloween events of recent years. You’ll find everything about the game on our Rust overview page, and more about the studio at Facepunch Studios.
