Honestly, I didn’t expect the 2004 Shrek 2 game of all things to make a comeback. But that’s exactly what’s happening: Aspyr is releasing Shrek 2 Remastered on November 10, 2026 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch 2, Switch and PC.

Release date and platforms
Aspyr officially unveiled the remaster together with Universal on October 20, 2026. Shrek 2 Remastered is set to launch simultaneously on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store. It’s developed and published by Aspyr, which most recently re-released Tomb Raider I–III Remastered, among others.

What’s new in the remaster
According to Aspyr, the graphics have been completely rebuilt, including 4K resolution. There’s also a new photo mode and a cheat menu. You can now switch between heroes like Shrek, Donkey or Puss in Boots at any time. Up to four players can play together, on the couch, online or mixed.
To me, this sounds like a perfect family game for the holiday season. It’ll be exciting to see how much of the original’s charm remains.

The official trailer
Aspyr released a first trailer alongside the announcement.
Price and pre-order
In the US, Shrek 2 Remastered costs $29.99, or $26.99 when pre-ordered. On Steam the price is €28.99. On PS5, the pre-order discount is only available with PS Plus. You can find more info on the official game page.
