Too Deep to Quit sends up to four adventurers into cursed temples full of traps, creatures and gold. The co-op survival game from Guilty as Sock! studio Demon Max is set to release for PC in 2026 – and you can already play a free demo on Steam.

What is Too Deep to Quit about?

Too Deep to Quit is a co-op survival exploration game for one to four players. You take on the role of a group of quirky puppet adventurers and explore cursed temples in search of the ultimate treasure. The setting draws on the golden age of adventure films: ruins, idols, traps and plenty of danger. The developers promise a humorous co-op adventure in which you have to work together to survive – while not fully trusting anyone at the same time. After all, only those still alive at the end get their share of the gold.

Game modes: Solo or co-op

According to the Steam page, Too Deep to Quit supports both single-player and online co-op for up to four players. In-game chat is integrated, and the game also supports Steam Family Sharing. One thing is clear, though: the concept thrives on the group. Joint planning, helping each other and that one person who’s guaranteed to walk into the next trap are part of the game’s design here.

Survive, improvise, loot

You have to make do with what you find. The temples are full of the remains of earlier adventurers who were less lucky than you. If you search every dark corner, you’ll find what keeps you alive. At the same time, hunger plays a role – starving is a real danger. The traps are even more dangerous: any corridor can become a death trap, for example through walls that crush you. And if the traps spare you, the inhabitants of the forgotten temples await, meaning everything that slithers, stings or bites. You’re rewarded with priceless artifacts and golden idols.

Biomes and temples

The full version revolves around several cursed temples. Demon Max hasn’t revealed yet how many there will be or which biomes await you. So far, only the first biome from the demo is known: the jungle. There, you fight your way through dense vegetation and look for the path to an ancient temple hidden deep in the thicket.

The Too Deep to Quit demo

The demo has been available for free on Steam since October 8, 2026 and was released for the Fall Showcase of the Triple-i Initiative. The game had already been revealed in April 2026 at the same initiative’s showcase. In the Steam community, the main topic of discussion is how similar the health system and physics are to the co-op hit PEAK. Some players even thought Too Deep to Quit was a project by the same makers – it isn’t. The puppet look with big mouths and googly eyes goes down well with many, while others hope the fun lasts beyond the first few rounds.

The studio behind it

Behind Too Deep to Quit is the French indie studio Demon Max, which also publishes the game itself. The team became known in 2025 with Guilty as Sock!, a chaotic online party courtroom show with socks as lawyers and judges, rated „Very Positive“ on Steam. The humor and focus on chaos with friends carry over into the new game.

What’s still unknown

Many details are still pending. Too Deep to Quit is supposed to come out in 2026, but there’s no exact date and no price. So far, the game has only been announced for PC via Steam. German isn’t currently listed as a language; the interface is available in English and French. For the system requirements, Steam only lists minimum values for operating system, processor and memory; no graphics card has been specified yet. There’s also no official information on the scope of the full version.

Too Deep to Quit system requirements

The known minimum requirements are moderate: you need 64-bit Windows 10, an Intel Core i5-4590 or AMD Ryzen 3 1200, 8 GB RAM, DirectX 12 and 5 GB of free storage. For the recommended requirements, Steam so far only lists DirectX 12 and 5 GB of storage; Demon Max hasn’t published values for operating system, processor, memory and graphics card yet. If you want to see for yourself, you can test the demo on your own PC.

Our assessment

Since Too Deep to Quit hasn’t been released yet and the demo on Steam has very few user reviews so far, we’re currently giving no scores (TBD). We’ll add them as soon as there’s a solid basis.
